Lakeview Mansion Preservation Project: Phase I

Phase I of the Lakeview Mansion Preservation Project has begun. To date, grants totaling $892,000 have been received by the Borough of Jamesburg from the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Making the site structurally sound before any major construction begins is the first challenge in this project. Temporary supports have been placed in the basement, and all upper floors of the 1832 section of the mansion in order to take weight off of the main center bearing wall beam, which was deemed structurally unsafe. Once the temporary shoring is completed, the mansion will once again be open to the public.
